Border tension halts Tres Curvas-1 work

By Upstream staff

Growing tensions between Colombia and Venezuela have forced Solana Resources to temporarily suspend testing at the Tres Curvas-1 well, in the Catguas Block, in Colombia's Catatumbo basin.

The company said that, in co-operation with Colombia government, it was putting in place revised security procedures and testing should resume in a few weeks.

Solana's plans for the block, including drilling two exploration wells and shooting 50 square kilometres of 3D seismic data and 132 line kilometres of 2D data, have not changed.

However, the increased security will have an affect on the costs and timing of the work.

The 1591 square kilometre Catguas Block borders Venezuela and is immediately west of the 255 million barrel Tibu field.

Solana operates Catguas with a 100% working interest.
