Chicuaco partners spin bit at Monza-1
By Upstream staff
Perth-based Baraka Petroleum said the Monza-1 well has spudded on the Chicuaco Block in Colombia.
Baraka said the 1528-metre well was targeting fluvial sandstone reservoirs in the Intra-Carbomera and Guadalupe formations. The prospect is thought to contain between 2 million and 5 million barrels of recoverable oil.
Drilling of the well was twice postponed due to delays in the arrival of the rig.
The well is operated by Omega Energy Colombia, which holds a 63% working interest in the block. Baraka holds a 20% stake, while Trayectoria Oil & Gas and TC Oil & Services have 10% and 7% stakes respectively.
