The Growler oilfield development in the PEL 104 joint venture permit in South Australia has reached a major milestone as both wells are open to natural flow at a combined rate of 100 barrels of oil per day.

Based upon well data, initial gross production rates of 300 barrels of oil per day are expected from both wells during the extended production test.

The oilfield is estimated to contain 7.7 million barrels of proven and probable reserves, with an expected recovery of 1.6 million barrels, Impress Energy said in a statement today.

“The natural oil flow from Growler-1 & 2 marks the beginning of the extended production test and is a significant step forward,” said Perth-based Impress.

Impress holds a 40% stake in the development, while Victoria Petroleum is on 40% and Roma Petroleum on 20%.
