Monza-1 comes up dry in Colombia

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Baraka Petroleum said the Monza-1 exploration well on the Chicuaco Block in Colombia’s Llanos basin would be plugged and abandoned after failing to hit hydrocarbon pay.

Baraka said the well’s operator, Omega Energy, had drilled the well to a depth of 4863 feet and wireline logging had been run. The well had targeted the Carbonera formation.

Omega operated the well with a 63% stake on behalf of Baraka (20%), Trayectoria Oil & Gas (10%) and TC Oil 7 Services (7%).

Baraka said the pexin 6 rig would move to drill the Mugello-1 well about two kilometres to the north-east once work on Monza-1 was wrapped up.
