Mosaic strikes Fairymount oil

By Upstream staff

Sydney-based Mosaic Oil has logged 5.4 metres of net oil pay over an interval of 13.5 metres after hitting depth in its 100%-owned Fairymount-9 well on Queensland’s Surat-Bowen basin.

Mosaic said the oil was logged between 2037 and 2050 metres in the Showgrounds sandstones after the well reached total depth of 2087 metres.

The well spudded on 11 March.

The company said the Century Rig 7 drilling rig would complete the well, with a rod-insert pumping string to be installed in April or May this year.

The well is the first of at least 10 wells to be drilled this year using the rig, Mosaic has said.
