Dragon roars in Turkmenistan

By Upstream staff

Anglo Irish-listed Dragon Oil has completed testing at its Dzheitune (Lam) A/125B well in the Cheleken contract area in Turkmenistan and reported an initial combined flow rate of more than 4082 barrels of oil per day from the short and long strings.

"The successful completion and initial testing of the Dzheitune (Lam) A/125B development well, drilled from the Dzheitune (Lam) A platform, is the second well completed by Dragon Oil in 2008. The results from this well are especially encouraging as it is the first time we have perforated and produced from the upper most part of reservoir zone CH2,” said Dragon’s chairman, Hussain Sultan in a statement today.

The well was drilled to a depth of 4080 metres and further testing is scheduled to take place over the coming weeks, said the company.

The Iran Khazar rig will spud a further development well, the Dzheitune (Lam) A/127, to a target depth of 4164 metres in the near future.
