Mosaic set to tap Fairymount pay

By Upstream staff

Sydney junior Mosaic Oil said it had completed its Fairymount-9 well in Queensland’s Surat-Bowen basin as a producer in the Showgrounds Sandstone and moved the Century Rig 7 to spud the Waggamba-4H well.

Mosaic said it had run production casing to 2098 metres in the Fairymount well and was awaiting a workover rig to install the rod–insert pumping strung before perforate the bore in the B Sand between 2036 and 2039 metres.

The company said it would run a production test from the B Sand before considering perforations in the overlying A Sand and the deeper C Sand intervals.

Mosaic holds a 100% interest in the well, on Queensland Petroleum Licence (PL) 46.

The company said in a statement it expects the Waggamba-4H well on PL 202 to spud by the end of the month. Farm-in partner CS Energy has paid A$3.5 million (US$3.16 million) for a 50% share of any oil and a 35% interest in any gas or condensates found in the well.
