Latest jobsMelbourne-based MEO Australia has handed PGS Australia, a unit of Norway’s Petroleum Geo-Services, a contract to shoot 350 square kilometres of 3D seismic over the Blackwood structure in the Timor Sea off Australia’s north-west coast.
MEO said the data would be shot on the NT/P68 permit using the Orient Explorer. Work is expected to start on 20 April and to take 25 days.
The company said the survey was intended to clarify the results of its Blackwood-1 well, which struck 49 metres of gas-bearing sediment in the Plover sands. The new data would help pin-point sites for further appraisal drilling, MEO said.
MEO is hoping that a large gas find at the Blackwood prospects could boost its plans to produce methanol from flows from the nearby Tassie Shoal.
