Amec swallows up Rider Hunt

UK-based contractor Amec has bought project services outfit Rider Hunt International for £25 million (US$49.5 million)in cash.

RHI provides project controls and IT solutions to the oil and gas, chemical, energy and process industries. The outfit has around 240 people, working in 15 countries and is positioned in mature markets as well as frontier regions, including Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

RHI will continue to operate as an independent, stand alone business, with Amec providing the geographic presence and capability to facilitate growth, Amec said in a statement.

“Acquiring RHI is an important step in our strategy of providing best in class consultancy services in programme and project management in the energy industries,” said Amec’s chief officer, Neil Bruce.
