Aussie duo to spud second well on Edirne

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Otto Energy and Incremental Petroleum are set to spud the second of five exploration wells on the Edirne gas project in western Turkey tomorrow which may pave the way for commercial gas production by next year.

The onshore Ortakci-1 probe will target between 10 billion and 20 billion cubic feet of recoverable gas from shallow reservoirs in the Thrace basin.

Incremental said it aims to confirm gas volumes and develop the fields for production by the middle of next year. Ortakci-1 will be drilled to a total depth of 500 metres and is expected to take about 6 days to complete.

The partners in the Erdirne gas project are operator Incremental on 55%, Otto Energy with 35% and joint operator Petraco Energi holding 10%.
