Antrim wraps up Fyne drilling

By Upstream staff

Calgary-based Antrim Energy said that drilling operations have been completed at the 21/28a-9 well that lies on the Fyne field in the central area of the UK’s North Sea after unveiling oil and gas pays.

The multilateral 28a-9 was drilled as planned with three legs, one pilot hole and two sidetracks into the Eocene Tay Sandstone. All three holes showed significant oil columns with thick pay intervals, said the outfit.

As planned, the third and final leg (21/28a-9y) contains the Tay Sandstone that will be completed and tested. This patch drilled about 52 feet true vertical depth of net oil pay and 35 feet tvd of net gas pay in a 332 feet tvd hydrocarbon column. As designed, the 28a-9y well was drilled at a 60 degree angle entering about 109 feet measured depth of net oil pay and 74 feet measured depth of net gas pay.

The Fyne field, which Antrim holds a 75% stake in, is on trend with several other fields in the area, including the West Guillemot, Pict and Saxon developments. Fyne also lies about 20 kilometres from existing infrastructure which provides production services for several fields in the area.

Completion and testing operations will start immediately with results expected from the testing programme later this month.
