Malaysia’s Petronas Carigali has spudded the Banda North-West appraisal well on Production Sharing Contract Area B off Mauritania, joint venture partner Roc Oil said today.
Roc said work started on the well, about 60 kilometres off the Mauritanian coast, on 2 April and the well was now at adepth of about 2692 metres.
The well is being drilled in water about 327 metres deep about two kilometres west of the Banda-1 discovery well drilled in 2002.
Petronas Carigali is operating PSC Area B with a 53.846% interest on behalf of joint venture partners Tullow Oil (21.6%), Mauritania Holdings (11.63%), Premier Oil (9.231%) and Roc (3.693%).
