Yetagun pipeline back in flow

By Upstream staff

A gas pipeline near the Thai-Burma border has started flowing again after repairs on two ruptures found last week were completed said Thai energy company PTT Exploration & Production (PTTEP).

The pipeline, which pulls gas from the Yetagun field offshore Burma, is now flowing at a normal flow rate of 400 million cubic feet per day, reported Reuters.

What caused the leaks last week was not reported.

Gas from Burma accounts for about 30% of Thai gas consumption.

About 1.16 Bcf of gas from the Yetagun and nearby Yadana fields are exported to Thailand every day.

PTTEP has a 19.3% stake in the Yetagun field while Petronas has a 40.9% share.

Other shareholders include Myanmar Oil & Gas Enterprise and Nippon Oil Exploration.
