Mugello-1 sends out positive signals

By Upstream staff

The Mugello-1 well, drilled on the Chicuaco Block in Colombia, has hit at least two zones which may contain moveable hydrocarbons following a review of the wireline log, block partner Baraka Petroleum said.

A test programme is being planned and should take about two weeks to complete.

Baraka boss Mark Fenton said in a statement: “The side-wall samples recovered in the last 24 hours have indicated the presence of oil. We are encouraged by these oil shows, however, until we have completed the test programme we will not be able to confirm whether moveable oil is present, potential flow rates or commerciality."

Omega operates Chicuaco with a 63% stake on behalf of partners Baraka (20%), Trayectoria Oil & Gas (10%) and TC Oil & Services (7%).
