Osage snaps up Cimarrona

By Upstream staff

California-based oil junior Osage Exploration and Development has bought Colombian player Cimarrona the company's executive chairman Kim Bradford said.

The deal will give Osage between 90 and 100 barrels of oil per day net before operating expenses, Bradford said.

Financial details of the move were not immediately available.

Osage finalised the farm-in deal for the 427 square kilometre Rosablanca concession held by London-based Gold Oil in Colombia's Middle Magdalena basin in August last year.

Drilling on the Rosablanca Block is planned for July depending on rig availability.

The company said the first well on the block will be the Santa Fe-1.

Cimarrona owns a 9.4% interest in the Guaduas field in Colombia's Middle Magdalena valley and a pipeline asset that can transport up to 20,000 bpd.

Toronto-based Pacific Rubiales Energy holds the remaining 90.6% interest in both the Guaduas field and pipeline reported BNamericas.

Osage said it is interested in other opportunities in Colombia, with Bradford adding several new deals are already in the works.

Energy Capital Solutions is acting as sole financial advisor to help structure the Cimarrona deal.
