Noble spins Benita bit

By Upstream staff

Noble Energy has spudded an appraisal of the Bentia find on Block I on the Benita discovery in Equatorial Guinea, partner PA Resources said today.

The drilling rig Sedco 700 will sink well I-5, which will appraise the extent of oil and gas discoveries made by wells I-1 and I-2 on the Benita structure.

This is the first well of a two well programme under way in the second quarter with results expected late in the quarter or early third quarter.

Operator Noble has a 40% interest in the Block, while PA Resources holds a 6% stake through its offshoot Osborne Resources, and partners Atlas Petroleum sit on 29% and Glencore with the remaining 25%.
