PDO steps up with GE Oil & Gas

By Upstream staff

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has handed GE Oil & Gas a $250 million compressor supply job as the Oman state-run player works to boost output from its gas fields.

Under the multi-year, multi-project contract, GE will supply PDO with 16 electric motor-driven centrifugal compressors for high-pressure injection applications in the Kauther, Saih Nihavda and Yibal gas fields.

The compressors will be built in Italy and will be shipped to Oma, starting next year with the final delivery in 2015. The units will be used on 14 projects that will come on stream between 2010 and 2016.

PDO produces more than 80% of the country’s crude oil and nearly all of its natural gas supply.

The company is owned by the government of Oman (60%), Shell (34%), Total (4%) and Partex (2%).
