Oilex readies Cambay drillstem test

By Upstream staff

Sydney-based Oilex said it was preparing to run casing and perform a drillstem test on the Cambay-23Z well on the Cambay Production Sharing Contract in India’s Gujarat state after reaching total depth of 2100 metres on the well.

Oilex said the drillstem test would run on the the well’s primary EP 4 objective. Logs run over the well’s Eocene section, as well as cores cut in the target sediments, suggest EP 4 is gas bearing, Oilex said.

The drillstem test will be run over the interval between depths of 1951 and 2005 metres.

Oilex operates the Cambay PSC with a 30% direct interest and a further 15 stake through its 100%-owned Oilex Holdings unit. Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation holds a 55% stake in the venture.
