Innamincka confirms Flax-7 strike

By Upstream staff

Brisbane minnow Innamincka Petroleum said wireline logging had confirmed it had struck about 10 metres of oil pay in the basal Patchwarra-Tirrawarra section of the Flax-7 sidetrack well on the Queensland Cooper basin.

Innamincka said the oil was found six metres lower than that in the Flax East sidetrack well – previously the lowest known on the field.

The company said production casing had been run to a depth of 2810 metres in the well and the rig released. It said the well, on Queensland PRL 14, would be included in a fracturing and testing programme starting in June.

The rig will now move to spud the Crocus South-1 well.

Innamincka operates the Flax-7ST1 with a 75% stake. SCGAU holds the remaining 25% interest in the well.
