Oil Search cheers Shahd flows

By Upstream staff

Oil Search said its operator had flowed oil at a rate of 2900 barrels per day during a test of the Shahd South-East-1 well in the East Ras Qattara concession in Egypt’s Western Desert.

Oil Search said the light oil was flowed from a 19-metre interval in the lower Bahariya sandstone through a half inch choke.

It said the well had now been shut in to allow pressure to build up ahead of the main flow test. The well is to be completed as a producer.

Sipetrol International operates the well with a 50.5% stake. Oil Search owns the remaining 49.5% stake.
