Ensco jacks up profits

Rig player Ensco International has booked first-quarter net income of $272 million, or $1.90 a share, up from $232.3 million, or $1.54 a share, in the same period a year ago.

Revenue for the quarter ended 31 March rose to $580.3 million from last year's $514.1 million.

The average dayrate for the company's jack-up fleet rose to $142,500 from $133,200 a year ago, with utilisation hitting 95%, up from 93%.
