Latest jobsGerman upstream player RWE Dea has flowed gas at a rate of about 37 million cubic feet per day while testing a 42-metre gas discovery in the Nile Delta in Egypt.
RWE Dea said today the gas was found in its North Sidi Ghazi-1x well in the Disouq concession. The gas was flowed from a perforated interval between 2752 and 2770 metres depth.
The gas-bearing Messinian-age sandstone was estimated to have 20% porosity.
The company said it planned to complete the well and carry out detailed testing. A second well, South Sidi Ghazi-1x, will be drilled to test a similar structure, it said.
RWE Dea operates the Disouq concession with a 100% stake.
