Aussies spud third Edirne well

By Upstream staff

Australian partners Incremental Petroleum and Otto Energy have spudded the third of five wells to be drilled this year on the Edirne field in western Turkey.

The Ortakci-1 well is expected to be drilled to be depth of about 400 metres, targeting between 10 billion and 20 billion cubic feet of natural gas in the Thrace basin.

The companies have struck significant amounts of gas in the first two wells drilled at Edirne this year.

Incremental operates the Edirne project with a 55% stake, while Otto holds a 35% interest and local Turkish partner Petraco Energi holds 10%.
