Anzon tidies up Basker-6

By Upstream staff

Sydney-based Anzon Petroleum said that the Basker-6 sidetrack off Australia’s Victoria state is currently being prepared for cleanup flow testing later this week before having its subsea tree and wellhead installed.

The well will then be suspended in readiness for connection via a 5500 metre flowline to the producing facilities, the Crystal Ocean floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, in mid-July when continuous production will start.

The well is expected to boost output from the Basker Manta project from current production of about 10,000 barrels per day.

The well is being drilled by the Diamond Offshore semi-submersible Ocean Patriot.

Meanwhile, partner Beach Petroleum, said today that Japan’s Sojitz Corporation had successfully bought a 10% stake in the Basker-Manta-Gummy (BMG) joint venture in the Bass Strait.

Beach said it had received a cash payment from Sojitz of A$123 million (US$115 million) on the 24 April.

Anzon remains the operator of the BMG joint venture on 40%, with partner Beach Petroleum on 30%, CIECO Exploration & Production on 20% and Sojitz’s Australian offshoot on 10%.
