Fox on run with Bourbon plans

By Upstream staff

Fox Petroleum has sealed a deal with services player Senergy which will see the semi-submersible drilling rig Byford Dolphin spud a well on the Bourbon prospect, in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Fox said it has a 22-day slot with the rig in the fourth quarter.

Richard Moore, Fox’s chief executive officer, said, “We believe the 211/17-3 well drilled in the 1980s to be an unrealised discovery well. Fox plans to move up-dip from the number 3 well, which we believe encountered an oil-water transition zone. This well, if successful, should prove up the recoverable resources estimate recently prepared by Aimwell Energy in excess of 160 million barrels of oil recoverable - mean case.”

Fox has a 46% stake in Block 211/17, which holds the Bourbon prospect.
