'Shell output cut by 350,000 bpd'

Nigeria rebels claimed today that an attack on a Shell-operated pipeline had shut in about 350,000 barrels per day of output.

Shell was not immediately available for somment.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said in a statement emailed to Reuters that the 24 April attack brought the amount of Shell output affect by its recent attacks to more than 500,000 bpd.

Last week, Shell said a previous bombing had hit 169,000 bpd of output.
