Seadrill takes bigger slice of Scorpion

By Upstream staff

Norway's Seadrill has raised its stake in Scorpion Offshore to 36%, and plans to launch an offer for the rest of the company's stock within four weeks.

Yesterday, Seadrill offered to buy 15.8 million Scorpion Offshore shares at Nkr80 ($15.67) per share, rivalling an earlier bid at the same price from United Arab Emirates-based Fortune Private Equity.

Seadrill said today it chose to limit the number of shares it bought under that offer to 8.1 million shares, after which it holds about 19.5 million shares in Scorpion Offshore.
