Indonesia crude output stable this month

Indonesia crude production was stable this month, underpinned by output returning from some wells after maintenance, an official at the country's energy watchdog said.

The official at the watchdog, BPMigas, said crude output was 859,000 barrels per day in this month, unchanged from last month.

However, the country's condensate production fell to 118,000 bpd this month from 127,000 bpd last month.

The official did not explain the fall in condensate output.

"Some wells have returned to produce oil after maintenance, which has made production stable in April," said the official, who declined to be identified.

The official said previously that crude production was likely to fall to 854,800 bpd this month due to maintenance of some wells, reported Reuters.

BPMIGAS, a government agency, monitors oil contractors working in Indonesia.

Indonesia, Asia-Pacific's only Opec member, has turned into a net importer of crude in recent years after production slumped as the country failed to tap new fields fast enough to offset its ageing reservoirs.

Indonesia has been offering new exploration rights and financial incentive for oilfields in a bid to stem a steady decline in production.
