Australia’s Roc Oil said Banda North-West sidetrack well had struck total depth of 2934 metres on the Area B Production Sharing Contract off Mauritania and wireline logs and pressure tests were being run.

Roc said preliminary logging results suggested the well had struck oil and gas deposits similar to those in the Banda discovery well, two kilometres to the east.

Malaysia’s Petronas Carigali operates the well with a 53.9% stake on behalf of Tullow Oil (21.6%), Mauritania Holdings (11.6%), Premier Oil (9.2%) and Roc (3.7%).
