TGS kicks off Greenland surveys

By Upstream staff

TGS-Nopec has started work on a Greenland data acquisition programme which will add 138,000 kilometres of aeromagnetic and aerogravity data and 8300 kilometres of 2D seismic data to its Greenland database.

The two aeromag/aerogravity projects will cover an area of 80,000 kilometres in the Labrador Sea-Ungava basin and 58,000 kilometres off north-east Greenland.

Both surveys will be available in the fourth quarter.

The 2D seismic program in Baffin Bay will start early in the third quarter. The programme will infill the existing 60 by 60 kilometre grid shot last year.

The data will be delivered to clients by the end of the year.

The TGS Greenland campaign is supported by strong industry pre-funding.
