Edirne hat-trick for Aussie pair

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Incremental Petroleum has struck more than 20 metres of potential gas pay in the Ortakci-1 well, its third discovery on the Edirne project in Turkey, partner Otto Energy said.

Fellow Australian player Otto said the gas was struck between depths of 238 and 332 metres in the well in western Turkey’s Thrace basin in sediments with porosity of about 25%.

Ortakci-1, the partners’ third well of five planned at Edirne, was drilled to a depth of 524 metres after spudding earlier this week. The well is being cased for flow testing once the drilling campaign is over.

Otto said the drilling rig would now move to spud the Arpaci-2 well, updip of an earlier discovery on the site made in 2006.

Incremental operates the Edirne project with a 55% stake, while Otto holds a 35% interest and local Turkish partner Petraco Energi holds 10%.
