The floating production, storage and offloading vessel Raroa, destined for the OMV-operated Maari development off New Zealand, has arrived in Wellington harbour from Singapore, project partner Horizon Oil said.

Australia-based Horizon said in its quarterly activities report today that the Raroa had arrived in New Zealand on Saturday, where it will undergo regulatory clearance before being deployed on the field.

The Raroa was converted at Singapore’s Jurong shipyard.

The vessel is expected to be moored on the field in the second week of this month. The company said umbilicals and flowlines were in place to link the FPSO to the project’s wellhead platform.

Horizon said installation work for the project’s wellhead platform had started on 24 April. The platform was delivered to New Zealand on 9 April.

Development drilling on the project is expected to kick off in June using the jack-up Ensco 107 with first production expected in the third quarter.

Maari is owned by a joint venture comprising Austrian oil company OMV with 69%, Todd Maari with 16%, Horizon with 10% and Cue Taranaki with 5%.
