Basker-6 kicks off production test

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Anzon Petroleum said the Basker-6 sidetrack, drilled in the Bass Strait off Victoria, is now production testing.

The Sydney-based outfit said tests had been conducted individually over what it said was a new pool discovery in the shallower Sand 2872 interval and in the underlying field-wide Intra-Latrobe Sand Zone 0.

Total oil flows of more than 8000 barrels per day was measured from the zones, while no free water was detected. Zone 2 and 7 will be tested next, said Anzon.

The well will then be suspended in readiness for tie-back to the Crystal Ocean production facilities in July.

The company added that it expects the well to add significant oil rate to the facilities.

Anzon remains the operator of the Baska Manta Gummy joint venture on 40%, with partner Beach Petroleum on 30%, CIECO Exploration & Production on 20% and Sojitz’s Australian offshoot on 10%.
