Converteam powers up Shtokman rigs
UK-based power conversion player Converteam is set to provide power
optimisation solutions for two semi-submersible drilling rigs that will be
put to use at the Shtokman field, off Russia.
The semisubs, one at from Vyborg Shipyard in Russia and Samsung Heavy
Industries in South Korea, will be fitted with power, propulsion,
distribution, vessel automation and thruster assisted mooring systems by
Converteam.
The semisubs are the first two CS-50 ice class rigs scheduled to start work
at Shtokman.
Further details of the contract, including financial terms, were not made
public.
