PGS charts $251m HD4D course

By Upstream staff

Petroleum Geo-Services is primed to shoot a $251 million high density 4D survey - a campaign the Norwegian player claims will be the largest ever carried out - for Brazilian giant Petrobras.

The job comprises a firm programme of five surveys, totalling 4945 square kilometres, worth between $180 million and $200 million. The contract also includes an alternative programme which covers an extra 120 days of data acquisition.

The shoots across the Campos, Santos and Espirito Santo basins will be carried out by the ultra-high capacity vessel Ramform Sovereign and kick off in October.

The Ramform Sovereign will use 18 6000-metre streamers and a 50 metre streamer separation or 14 8000-metre streamers, also on a 50 metre separation, depending on Petrobras' subsurface imaging requirements for each survey area.
