Latest jobsGerman utility group RWE has made a new oil discovery in Area 195 in Libya's Sirte basin, its third discovery in about a year.
“This discovery was made at the exploration well B1-NC 195 at Area 195 in Sirte basin about 800 kilometres east of Tripoli and 100 kilometres south of Ras Lanuf,” Libya’s National Oil Company (NOC) said in a statement.
Tests showed oil output was at 204 barrels per day at a choke point of 52/64 on the Dahra formation and 840 bpd at a choke point of 32/64 on the Beda formation.
Previous discoveries made by RWE in the basin were in April and September of last year.
NOC has a 68% stake in Area 195, with RWE holding the remainder.
