Latest jobsMelbourne-based 3D Oil is primed to mature several leads into drillable prospects in its wholly owned T41/P licence in Australia’s Bass basin after wrapping up a 2200-kilometre 2D seismic shoot.
The outfit’s seismic sweep has been concentrated in the south west of the permit, where previous mapping has identified four leads.
Mapping of the new data will be used to mature the leads into drillable prospects, which will be candidates for future drilling.
The only well in the permit, Chat-1, drilled into a breached trap in 1986, but hit several hundred metres of residual hydrocarbon shows, said 3D.
The licence covers 2805 kilometres in water depths generally below 80 metres.
