Sundance expands its patch in Dakota

By Upstream staff

Australian independent Sundance Energy is extending its acreage patch in the Williston basin’s Bakken shale with an investment in 5800 acres in the heart of the play.

The Manitou prospect in North Dakota is spread across a number of tracts all of which lie north of the successful Parshall field and to the north-east of Sundance’s active Phoenix prospect.

The Parshall field is home to some of the Williston basin’s largest producing Bakken wells and the formation is generally considered the most important oil discovery in the US since Alaska’s North Slope, Sundance said in a statement today.
