Latest jobsMalaysian state oil company Petronas is suspending the Banda NW ST-1 sidetrack off Mauritania following indications that the well hit an 85 metre gross gas column and 15 metre gross oil column.
Australian partner Roc said the gas column holds 15 metres or 18% net gas pay and the oil column holds 10 metres or 67% net oil pay.
The company added the fluid contacts were as expected and the well is interpreted to be in communication with the original Banda-1 discovery well drilled in 2002, about two kilometres to the east.
The Banda field lies in about 300 metres of water and spans production sharing contract area A and B.
Roc holds a 3.693% interest in the production sharing contract area B joint venture, along with the operator Petronas Carigali (PC) Mauritania on 53.846%, Tullow Oil on 21.6%, Mauritania Holdings with 11.63% and Premier Oil on 9.231%.
