Fujian receives first LNG parcel

By Upstream staff

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) said the Fujian import terminal has started trial operations after the first cargo of liquefied natural gas arrived from Egypt.

The 60,000 tonne LNG parcel was bought on the spot market and loaded at the IDKU terminal in Egypt, reported Chinese media.

CNOOC signed a deal in 2006 to source gas for the Fujian terminal from BP’s Tangguh project in Indonesia, which is due to start operating next year.
