Ombrina Mare-2 confirms riches
Mediterranean Oil & Gas has confirmed significant oil from appraisal
drilling on the Ombrina Mare field in the Adriatic Sea off Italy.
The company drilled the Ombrina Mare-2 appraisal well to a total depth of
2310 metres and said oil was confirmed by cores and logs inside the main
target formation up to 2250 metres, while gas was confirmed by logs.
The results of the two cores and logs taken inside the carbonate primary
target were similar to those taken at Ombrina Mare-1, the discovery well on
the field.
The Ombrina Mare field has already produced oil and gas from the first well.
The current well location is one kilometre east of the OM1 location.
The company plans to carry out production tests in about two to three weeks
following completion of a horizontal well.
