Duster for Bow’s Donga-4

By Upstream staff

Bow Energy is suspending the Donga-4 well in Australia’s Surat basin permit ATP 805P after a completion and swab test failed to show hydrocarbons despite a small recovery of oil from a test when the well was initially drilled in 2006.

The results suggest the reservoir is tight or compartmentalised and will unlikely flow at commercial rates on its own.

Pending results of the fluid analysis and the monitoring of the well, Bow may consider reservoir stimulation options in the future.

The Australian outfit recovered 27.5 barrels of fluid interpreted as mostly completion and drilling fluid.

Bow operates the permit on an 85% stake with partner Victoria Petroleum on 15%.
