Devon confirms single platform planned for two US Gulf fields

US independent Devon Energy, a partner in the Chevron-led Jack and St Malo Lower Tertiary discoveries in the deep-water US Gulf, has confirmed two fields will be co-developed and tied into a single production platform in the infrastructure-poor Walker Ridge area.

Chevron's integrated project team dedicated to the field pair is now working out the system that best fits the finds, which are about 15 miles (24 kilometres) apart.

Several scenarios are under review, from floating production, storage and offloading-based solutions to spar and semi-submersible hosts.

"Jack and St Malo will be developed together," said Greg Simmons, Devon's deep-water manager forGulf of Mexico, during a visit to Diamond Offshore semi-submersible Ocean Endeavour, which is currently drilling the Jack-3 well.
