Leed scores hat trick in US Gulf

By Upstream staff

UK independent Leed Petroleum has hit three new pay sands with its Eugene Island Block A-7 well in the shallow waters of the US Gulf.

The probe has reached a total depth of 15,447 feet and has struck about 45 feet of additional pay.

Two of these new zones were primary objectives of the well.

To date, the well has struck three commercial sands totaling 125 feet.

In order to maximise flow rates and the recovery of reserves from these three objectives, the outfit has started a short sidetrack from the lower section of the well bore.

“The success of the A-7 well has opened several new avenues for exloitation and exploration in the Eugene Island 183/184 field,” Leed’s chief executive Howard Wilson.
