OMV takes slice of Norway pie

By Upstream staff

Austrian producer OMV has taken a 30% stake in Production Licence 301CS, in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, after sealing a deal with Canada's Talisman and Danish explorer Dong.

PL 301CS lies about 300 kilometres south-west of Stavanger and less than 30 kilometres north-east of the producing Jade field, in the UK sector.

Once the deal is completed, operator Talisman will have a 42% stake in the licence, with Dong holding 28%.

The agreement is subject to final approval of the Norwegian authorities.
