Jobs swag keeps Atwood busy

By Upstream staff

Houston driller Atwood Oceanics has said its Atwood Hunter rig has been handed a number of jobs with Noble Energy for work in the eastern Mediterranean Sea and by Kosmos Energy and Noble Energy for work off West Africa for a combined term of four years.

These contracts provide for a day rate of $511,000 while working in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, about $538,000 while working off Ghana and about $545,000 while working in other West African areas.

The Kosmos/Noble Energy contract provides for a one year option at mutually agreed rates.

Upon completion of the current work off Mauritania, the rig will be relocated to the eastern Mediterranean Sea to perform the Noble Energy contract and then mobilised to West Africa to begin the combined Kosmos and Noble Energy contract, with the rig being moved between Ghana and other designated areas at various intervals.

The initial work in Ghana for Kosmos is estimated to take 270 days to complete, the company said in a statement.

These contracts provide that Noble Energy and Kosmos will provide all tow vessels and pay a day rate of about $460,000 during all mobilisation periods.
