By Upstream staff

Bechtel has awarded the PLNG consortium, led by Saipem subsidiary Petromar, the construction of the containment systems for a single-train liquefied natural gas plant off Angola.

The scope of work comprises the construction of five tanks (2 LNG, 1 propane, 1 butane and 1 condensate) with capacity ranging between 59,000 cubic metres and 159,000 cubic metres.

Petromar will ensure the overall management of the project and providing technical support to the partners as well as being in charge of the erection of the external components of the LNG, propane, butane and condensate tanks.

The work is expected to be completed within 47 months.

Together with a contract win in Kuwait for a gas booster station, reported on Upstreamonline yesterday, the two awards were given a value of €580 million ($901.9 million)
