Sembcorp Marine offshoot Jurong Shipyard has completed India’s first deep-water floating production, storage and offloading vessel for Norway’s Aker Floating Production.
The Dhirubhai-1 FPSO is scheduled to leave the yard by the end of July and will be chartered to Reliance Industries at the MA D6 field off the east coast of India, with first oil expected in the third quarter.
The FPSO is designed to operate for 10 years without drydocking and is capable of processing 60,000 barrels of oil per day and 15 million cubic metres of gas per day, with a storage capacity of 1.3 million barrels of oil, coupled with a liquid injection capacity of 80,000 barrels per day.
The naming of the Dhirubhai-1 FPSO, India’s first deep-water FPSO, is a historic occasion, Reliance’s chief executive PMS Prasad said.
“Today we see the fruits of our labour and indeed, we are ready to set a world record by commissioning India’s first deep-water oil and gas field two years from its discovery,” he added.
