Partners chosen for Gassi Touil
A partnership of the UK's Petrofac and Indonesia's IKPT has been selected by Algeria's Sonatrach to build the Gassi Touil liquefied natural gas plant in Arzew.
A $900 million contract is expected to be signed by the end of July when a supplier is secured for the Air Products process licence.
Petrofac and IKPT were confirmed as low bidders at an open tender ceremony in Algiers over the weekend.
The state company gave the partnership until 22 July "to obtain the requisite guarantees from the process licensor and selected vendor" for the 4.3 million tonnes per annum plant, Petrofac said.
"A contract should be signed immediately after the guarantees are there," a source said.
