GE Oil & Gas unit lands China pipeline gig
General Electric’s subsidiary GE Oil & Gas has received a contract worth over $100 million to supply pipeline compression equipment for China's second West-to-East natural gas pipeline.
Building of the new pipeline, which consists of a main line and eight branches, began earlier this year.
Turbo compressor units will be built mostly at GE facilities in Florence, Italy, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
They will be delivered to the project sites next March. The pipeline is expected to be operational by the end of next year.
GE was also an equipment supplier for the expansion of China's first West-to-East pipeline in 2005, said Business Week.
GE shares fell 81 cents, or 2.8%, to $28.28 in afternoon trading.
